63 Riv- rapid turn signal

Recommended Posts

I have put the turn signals back together on my 63. When I use them, they blink much faster than I remember from before pulling everything apart for paint.

Every thing appears to be connected properly, the sockets are clean and the bulbs are new.

Any suggestions where to look?

Thanks

Zimm-

The flash rate depends on current draw. Higher current flow to the turn signal lights makes them blink faster.

What you have could be normal, could be a flasher that is going out, or could be that you are drawing too much current in your bulbs. Are left and right turn blinking at the same rate? Things like bad ground can affect this, but usually they don't flash... Perhaps in your clean up you have provided a better gorund, so more current flows and the flash faster than before.

Are you using stock bulbs in the tail lights and in the front turn signal housings? High candlepower bulbs draw more current, flash faster.

I will be in Easton on Thursday and can make a house call, if you want.

. . . just replace the existing flasher unit with another flasher, and see what results ??

Absolutely step one!

Classic symptom of a weak flasher.

Rule that out first.
