Digger914
Hay any one out there know what the part number is for the valve timing belt.time to replace the belt but no one at the parts house can seem to find the right belt89 TC 16vThe belt looks like a Gates T153 but I wouldn't bet half a days time on finding out. From the net the Dayco timing belt # for the DOHC is 95153 and the Dayco cam tensioner kit that comes with belt part #95153K1. It doubles the price of the part and changing out a 23 year old plastic roller with sealed bearing while you've got the thing apart takes a couple more minutes and saves going back in next month. have you thought about doing the water pump while you've got it apart? Guest StudeDude 01
Though Digger is well intentioned, both listings from Gates and Dayco are for the the SOHC 2.2 engine, not the DOHC. You may take note that the Dayco belt also fits the 2.5 SOHC. Rock Auto has a listing (Cloyes) for a 2.2 belt which has more teeth than the SOHC but also lists the incorrect Dayco belt.
