Dwight Romberger
Does anyone know the aftermarket # of the fan belt for a '30 Buick. In 29-30, belts were the same in all series that year. Thanks,Dwight Edited March 10, 2013 by Dwight Romberger (see edit history)
Mark Shaw
If you don't have one for reference, it might be easier to just measure the pully sizes and center to center distance to look up what you need.
Dwight Romberger
Thanks for the reply Mark. I checked around locally and the 5/8" belts would be special order. If I am going to have to wait, I would rather give my business to Bob's. Patience. It's a learned response. Dwight Romberger
The good news: I received the new fan belt from Bob's today. The bad news: I realized that when I rebuilt the fan hub I put the fan blade on backwards. That means I have to drain the system and pull the radiator for the third time this week! Ouch.

Ouch.Dwight,You don't need to pull the radiator.Slacken the clamp bolt on the fan bracket assembly and let the whole fan assembly drop down ( this is how you tension the belt after installation, well you lift the fan assembly up then tighten the clamp bolt ).All you need to do then is unbolt the fan bracket support ( 2 X 1/2" bolts ) and slide the whole assembly out, bracket which bolts to the front of the motor and fan assembly. Work from the generator/water pump side and a bit of jiggling will get it out. Reverse the proceedure to put it back on.

That will be much easier. My back was not looking forward to lifting the radiator and the surround in and out again. Thanks,DwightI owe you a "slab." Is that the right word?
