Barney Eaton
I rebuild GM power antenna. I have a few for sale but prefer to rebuild your antenna so that we know it fits your fender. The most common Delco antenna were made from 1980 until the present and I can repair any of those. The standard failure is the motor runs but the mast does not move. This is a broken plastic cord. They are still available but I use a steel cable (wire rope) and it will outlast the plastic parts by a long shot. Prior to 1980 GM used antenna from Tenna. I can usually repair those but it depends on what is wrong. I do not have a supply of spare parts for the Tenna units, so it is best that we talk before sending me your antenna. If you have a power antenna that need repair, contact me at (Barney@texas.net) or 512-869-5114Repair price for the 1980 and up units is $50 plus shipping. Price on the earlier antenna depends on parts availabity.
davidyavidy
Barney,I'm searching for info on power seat mechanisms for a '57 Series 62 convertible when I stumbled on this thread. I used to wrench for a living a long time ago and now help a friend named Don work on his old car collection (mostly 50's & 60's). He introduced me to a guy named Ernie who was looking for someone to help with his collection, one of them being this '57 Caddy. His antenna quit working a few weeks ago so he asked me if I could look at it. I know nothing about power antennas, but I do know that the plastic feed line is broken and the motor does still rotate both directions. What is your approximate turn around time? As far as I know, it's the original antenna. Can you insert this wire rope thing of yours into a '57 power antenna? I'll let Ernie know about your rebuilding service and contact you for more details if he wants to give you a try.Dave
