Guest hiyudon
Hello All,I'm having an issue with the right rear wheel upper adjusting cam. It will not rotate the cam plate to expand the rear shoe out. I took the shoes off and see that somewhere in the past someone had tried to take it apart and rounded the.. what looks like 1/2 cap screw off. I tried holding the rounded part off with a vise grip and attempted to remove it. No go.To make a long question short. How do I get this thing apart? As a last resort I could tig the bolt to the cam plate I suppose, but I'd rather not. I have a parts manual, but it doesn't show the bolt or have a number for it as I read it.All help appreciated.Don

keiser31
Sounds like a replacement of the upper adjustment cam/lobe is in order. I would not weld it.
Guest hiyudon
Too late. I called an antique parts supplier in a local town. I told him what was going on and he recommended welding it also. That's all I needed to hear. It's welded and working just fine now. Would have preferred to replace the unit, but could not find any parts for it other than the cam plate. She's good for the next few decades. Thanks for your suggestions.

c49er
There never were any factory repair parts for those MoPar brake adjusting cams. You had to weld the cam as you had done or replace the whole backing plate assembly.
