60FlatTop
A magazine from my collection. I always figure Wildcat was chosen because "Hellcat", the tank with a Buick transmission, was not an appropriate name for a company to use in the early 1950s. More recently it seems OK, though. 1
60FlatTop
An interesting point on Buick's choice of the Wildcat name, I have sold a lot of Jim Handy sales training presentations. Those are the ones with the record and film strip for dealers. I had a 1966 Oldsmobile record promoting the Rocket V8 engine. It told the salesman to counter customer comments on the Buick Wildcat engine with an off hand "Wildcat? What do those run on? Cat food? The Rocket V8 uses gasoline." Cutthroat salesmen of the '60s. I love it.

I'm glad that you clarified that -- my first thought was another "Handy"... https://www.deepthoughtsbyjackhandey.com/
