jeff_a
I went to the Pioneer Auto Museum, a collection of 250 cars in Murdo, South Dakota in September. They have a 1928 Peerless 6-60 Sedan. I'll try to enclose the two pictures I took of it, one of the rad shell and one of the L.S. of the car. jeff_a
Finally --- I figured out how to add these pictures! In addition to this Peerless, there's a Packard once owned by Tom Mix {white Sport Phaeton with red wire wheels}, a 1931 Pierce-Arrow Convertible Coupe, a couple of 1937 Cord 812s, a '38 Cadillac V-16 Sedan and a 40s Buick Roadmaster Woody Wagon. One of only about 14 collections worldwide to have all three of the "Three P's." Edited September 6, 2013 by jeff_a Better plug for museum! Ozstatman
Jeff,Don't want to "taint" your Peerless thread but I'd be interested to see a pic of the Tom Mix Packard. So if you don't want to post it here PM or email(ozstatman AT gmail.com) would suffice. jeff_a
I don't mind a photo or two of a Packard here, or a Pierce-Arrow either. I just haven't located the shot I took of the Tom Mix Packard, so sent you some directions to the Pioneer Auto Show website, which has 1 small pic of the '31 Packard. I had to re-send this reply since the "power outage" on the "D.F." a week ago erased my first try. petemick
A recent visit to the Sandstone Estate in South Africa allowed me to photograph the 1915 Peerless Truck they have on display. The vehicle is used regularly for demonstrations but they do not intend to renovate the body more than has already been done . This is only one of three Peerless vehicles in South Africa. jeff_a
Thank you for the photos of the Brass Era Peerless truck, Peter. These are the first ones I've seen that weren't official museum photos. If you ever happen upon a spare engine for one of those, I know someone in New Zealand who would be keen on buying it. I've heard there's a 4th Peerless, a 1928 Six-60 Touring Phaeton....in addition to your 1929 Six-81, the 1926 Roadster and the big truck. The '28 was in Joubertina the last time I heard. petemick
Thanks Jeff, I was aware of the other Peerless but despite my best efforts I have not managed to find the owner I will keep trying. I noted the requirement for the 1915 motor I will ask the Museum guys if they haveRegardsPeter
jeff_a
There's a new museum called The Key Museum that has a Brewster-bodied 1910 Peerless Model 27 Landaulet. As nice a Brass Peerless as you'll find. I didn't know about the museum until this week, but it just opened six months ago. See: www.keymuseum.com. Location: Izmir, Turkey. They have 130 cars from a lot of different eras in a 60,000 sq. ft. building. As a former museum curator, I would say it is world-class in terms of museum design and exhibit quality. Looking online for some photos of the grand opening, I recognize a ca. 1901 Toledo, 1910s E-M-F, ca. 1909 Mercedes Raceabout, 1909 Ford, 1953 MGTD, ca. 1954 Corvette, Mercedes Gullwing, and a 1957 Thunderbird. One impressive lineup is what looks like a 1932 Stutz DV32, a 1934 Pierce-Arrow, a 1934 Packard with a Waterhouse Body, and a 1929 Renault Town Car. I need to add the facility to the thread here about collections with all three of the Three Ps of Motordom, which will make 20 of those.
