  2. Hi , I was fortunate to buy the cylinder head and the exhaust manifold from your parts hoard . Please advise a price for the 18C engine and do you have a split rim for the 18 inch wire wheels on my car. One of mine is missing . Regards Peter South Africa
  3. For many years I have been trying to find a definitive publication to assist in engine maintenance on my 6/81 with a Continental 15-U engine. I have just discovered a Continental Motors General Service Manual (1930 ) which I think will help many owners to maintain/repair their Continental Engines. The web address is as follows:- http//www.dmacweb.com/documentation/manuals/Service.pdf
  4. I have just seen your post , I have an original 1929 6/81 owners book I will gladly copy for you if you wish, regards Peter
  5. Thanks Jeff, I was aware of the other Peerless but despite my best efforts I have not managed to find the owner I will keep trying. I noted the requirement for the 1915 motor I will ask the Museum guys if they have Regards Peter
  6. A recent visit to the Sandstone Estate in South Africa allowed me to photograph the 1915 Peerless Truck they have on display. The vehicle is used regularly for demonstrations but they do not intend to renovate the body more than has already been done . This is only one of three Peerless vehicles in South Africa.
  7. Thank you guys for your assistance, I have managed to find a specialist in Johannesburg who is trying to repair the head for me so let me give it a week or so and see how it works out I bought a book on Continental engines some time ago trying to work out how the early history of the model range worked but it was no help at all. I posted a lot of pictures on the Peerless Motor Car Company website recently of my car as it now is . It is a delight to drive

  13. Hi Fred, I,m in South Africa and I am using the same engine in my 6/81, cannot help you with that head but I do have another Peerless engine from a 6/80 that is a different Continental model and I think not interchangeable with your engine but it is the right year and might help if you are really stuck. 17. I finally managed to have a new set of gears made here in South Africa, a new Morse chain ,the same as the old one but a different pitch came from UK. We also replaced the valves , springs and cotters , a Ford DS800 set fitted nicely. I was lucky to find new pistons in the USA. The respray is great ,two tones of grey with maroon wheels and maroon pin stripe, its booked into a show in May so will have to be finished by then
  18. I,m in the middle of a full repray on my 6/81 and I,m looking forward to more reliable miles. One thing I was wondering ,how many right hand drive Peerless cars like mine exist? Do any production records exist with that information?
  19. My 18C engine is badly in need of some spares, the timing gears have finally worn out so I need a crank gear ,cam gear and chain, can anybody help please. I can offer a complete 11C engine in return.
  20. By a stroke of good fortune we stumbled across what apears to be a 6-61 engine in South Africa, my own 6-81 and I were cruising around on a sunny sunday and found the engine on a display stand in an old garage. It looks as though it was used for some sort of demonstration unit. To my knowledge only three Peerless exist in South Africa so we have no idea where this engine came from or what happened to the rest of the car. Needless to say I bought the unit from the owner who was happy it was going to a Peerless owner.

  22. My 6-81 has had the 4 wheel hydraulic brake cylinders sleeved with stainless steel sleeves and new seals and it all works very well almost as good as a modern car at moderate speeds.

Jeff my 6-81 in South Africa does not have a radiator cap emblem (as in a Rolls) but there are two holes in the cap. If one should be there what does it look like. How did they used to hold the brass hub caps onto the wheels ,I have all 6 and it looks as though there is solder on the inside where the cap would fit on the wheel ?
