jrbartlett
I have a long leaf spring (13 leaves) that has sagged about an inch compared to the one on the other side. I don't have time to pull the spring to have it re-arched. I read years ago about inserting a couple of copper pennies between the leaves, at the end of each. Has anyone had any experience with whether this works, and whether the pennies just slip out after a few miles? Thanks.
Rusty_OToole
Take it to a spring shop. They can rearch the old springs and add a leaf for extra support if necessary. Or if they are real bad, make new springs.Having a pair of leaf springs rearched usually costs about $200 to $250, new springs maybe $50 more. JFranklin
You will need to find the time and do it right, a few pennies won't help much. If you really don't have the time then take it to your favorite garage and have it done.
