Guest SoCalReatta
When I'm driving my '89 coupe in street traffic, my temp reads between 185-190. On freeway speeds it's about 175-180. When I turn on the a/c, the temp jumps to 225-230 in stop and go traffic and around 215-220 during freeway speeds. I know this is not normal so what should I be looking for? Thanks in advance! Guest Corvanti
from i've read in "search", that's close to normal.if you haven't "flushed and filled" the coolant system lately, you might want to do that. when i purchased my reatta, i found quite a bit of rust and dirty coolant. since then, it hasn't gone above 213 in stop & go. less than 190 otherwise. don't forget to have your heater & fan on full if you do it! hope this helps! from a "kid" that grew up in Pomona, Ca. Doug Harness
Last year I replaced the radiator in our '91. It's running a lot cooler now.
Roadster90
Radiator yes, but also make sure the right / passenger side or the fan if front of the radiator comes on immediately when the a/c is initially turned on....
Roadster90
Question please - per Ronnie's site referenced in one of his above posts - where is 220 -230* (considered normal per the entry) on the temperature gauge please? .....or how many "clicks or marks" past the 12:00 or straight up position please?
