Timing Lights

I just power mine from my 12-volt trickle charger. Easier than moving a 12-volt car alongside, at least for me. Also note you can get timing lights that are powered by 110 volt AC. Just power the light correctly, as Restorer32 says, it couldn't care less about the voltage of the car it's timing.

No 6 volt light needed. Just park a 12 volt next to the car to power the timing light. We do it all the time.

When I use my timing light on my 48 Chevy, I power her up with a 12 volt jumppack. Easier than using one of my other car's battery.
