Paul Falabella
Can't tell if the rear compressor bracket(Exhaust man.-compr.back-intake man.) is semi black with green overspray or green with black over spray. All the other brackets appear to be engine green.Anyone know? Bet someone does. Thanks in advance
Pete Phillips
On the A/C compressor, all of the brackets I've ever seen are semi-gloss black. I've worked on '55 and '56 Buicks with factory A/C.Pete Phillips, BCA #7338Leonard, TX
Paul Falabella
The tubular braces are green with no overspray. Should be black?
buick5563
Yep. It should all be black. From an originally assembled at the factory perspective notice that the brackets are bolted to the studded head bolts and water crossover bolts. They were set up with those crazy bolts before testing and painting. THEN the AC was added.
Paul Falabella
So do non A/C cars have the bolt holes in the intake or is it a different part?
buick5563
The manifold is standard AC - non AC. Just depends on what type carb. Even the two barrel carb has that hole.
Paul Falabella
Hey Mike, did you ever have any A/C work done on your car at Classic Auto Air? If so how are they?
buick5563
I had an under dash unit rebuilt by them, but no stock stuff. I was happy with their work. I redid all of my own 55 stuff. I'm gonna call most of the system other than my compressor rebuild "dumb luck", since I found a junkyard unit and just washed it out with water and compressed air. Ignorance was bliss. I think Willie's website has info on your compressor rebuild. It might be ten bucks in parts if there are no "hard parts" that have gone bad.
