1935Packard
In the last few weeks, the horns stopped working in both of my Packards -- both in the '35 senior car and the '41 junior car. In both cases, the wiring looks solid through the connection to the horns, and I suspect there may be a loose connection at the horn button. Can anyone tell me how to remove the horn buttons in these two cars so I can check? On the 1935, the disc assembly with the throttle and lights seems to rotate, but I'm not sure how to remove it properly. Thanks in advance for any help. Owen_Dyneto
On the 35 senior, you need to disconnect the headlight switch at the bottom of the column, remove the throttle sector and gear linkage, loosen the packing gland on the gear box that retains the gear oil, and then slide all 3 tubes up in column until you can get at the back of the horn button retainer. Dave Mitchell
On the 41, there are three small fillister head screws on the back of the horn ring that you need to take out from the underside of the steering wheel. You need a rather small screwdriver, about 1/8 inch wide. You may need to turn the wheel a bit to get at the holes. If you need photos of what I mean, just email me. packard12s@hotmail.com
