Help removing horn button (in both a '35 and '41)

1935Packard

Recommended Posts

In the last few weeks, the horns stopped working in both of my Packards -- both in the '35 senior car and the '41 junior car. In both cases, the wiring looks solid through the connection to the horns, and I suspect there may be a loose connection at the horn button. Can anyone tell me how to remove the horn buttons in these two cars so I can check? On the 1935, the disc assembly with the throttle and lights seems to rotate, but I'm not sure how to remove it properly. Thanks in advance for any help.

On the 35 senior, you need to disconnect the headlight switch at the bottom of the column, remove the throttle sector and gear linkage, loosen the packing gland on the gear box that retains the gear oil, and then slide all 3 tubes up in column until you can get at the back of the horn button retainer.
