TG57Roadmaster
Anyone know the name and location of the Oakland, CA, Chrysler Dealer in 1966, or if there was more than one in Oakland at the time? Thanks in advance,TG
Grimy
The downtown Oakland Chrysler-Plymouth dealer was The J. E. French Company, in the 2700 block of Broadway, on the east side of the street. They also had a branch in Berkeley, at Oxford and [Channing Way?]. I have a pair of their license plate frames sized for Calif's 1940-1955 [i.e., long] plates. There was a separate dealership in East Oakland (still within the City of Oakland) called Melrose Motors, but I don't recall its 1966 location. TG57Roadmaster
Thanks George, that answered my question perfectly. The J.E. French deal still exists as Volkswagen of Oakland, at 2740 Broadway.TG
Guest Gary Hearn
Very reminiscent of a 1930's Studebaker dealer. For comparison, here is a picture of the one that used to be on Broadway in Denver.
