horn disassembly

how do I remove the dome cover over the magnet/diaphragm so I can repair the wire on a '41 120 horn? There's no visible screw to hold it in place - did it "snap on? or "screw" on ? ? ?

I think that one snaps on, but I can check for sure

Dave is right, the covers "snap on". Went and had a look at mine and there are 3 bumps on the inside of the cover that snap over some of the six tabs on the horn plate, allows for aligning to get your wire in the right place. Here's a link to my post on PackardInfo when we did the horns on my '41.

Dome off! Thanks for images (picture=1000words) I failed again to have Ozstatman's blog memorized.

NOW: what gauge wire can I use? The original wire looks like 10 or 8!? Big!

I have 12 G cloth-covered wire on hand. Will this be adequate?

I think the original was 10. I always put it back the way it was. The horns take a lot of power and you want them to sound good.

The wiring diagram I use shows 16 gauge from the horn button to the horn relay and 12 gauge from the starter switch [power source] to the horn relay. I would assume that you would continue with 12 gauge from the relay to the horn.
