serge binding on carpet - who does it?

Hi- looking to have some original style serge binding done on a 20's automobile carpet, this is where thread is sewn back and forth with a special machine to bind carpet.

Anyone know who does this, where you can send cut carpet and have bound?

Ask at local carpet stores. Some of them have the machine, or they should know someone in the area who does. Larger stores usually have them. I know one of the local stores has one and this is in a town of under 2O,OOO.

David/Trimacar, I also need this done to the carpet in the passenger compartment of the 23. Never knew what to call the binding. Here is a company in WV who does it. I imagine we can send off the cut carpet and have it bound. There is also a commercial place in MD.

Essis & Sons in Mechanicsburg, PA did mine for the '07 Franklin last year. They did a great job. I just made heavy paper patterns for each piece, furnished them the carpeting, and they cut it and applied the serging around the edges. You have to make sure when cutting the carpeting that you allow the proper leeway for the serging for a really good fit, so I left it to the experts. The whole job cost me less than $200, only took a couple of days, and I couldn't find one fault.
