Guest stude8
A friend has a set of mystery hydraulic shock absorbers he would like to identify make and application for. See attached photos of the parts. They are a set of four with two arms that face forward and two arms that face rearward. These are the casting part numbers:Body; 5313843-R2Arm A; 5342645Arm B; 5342646End Cap 1754M 6-C-48It was thought these were for an early 30's Studebaker but that does not seem to be correct.Any help is greatly appreciated, ** this search has been on "Technical" forum for over a month with no responses so I moved it here for a new audience to view.Stude8<!-- google_ad_section_end -->
Dave Mellor NJ
There's a company called Apple Hydraulics that buys sells and rebuilds all manner of shocks and other hydraulic equip. I wonder if they would know.
West Peterson
They look like Delco to me, which would have been used on a number of different cars (depending on model #), but I suspect that you have already exhausted that option. It would probably help to indicate any numbers you can see on them. Sometimes there are very faint numbers in the center of the screw-on caps on the ends. West Peterson
I just noticed that you posted the numbers in the other thread:Based on the 1754M number (right side -- 1754L would be for left), I think it's 1940 Oldsmobile, Six or Eight, and they would be for the rear. It's possible they also fit other makes.
Curti
Is there a publication that cross references the Delco shock numbers? I am looking for 1746's
West Peterson
I suggest calling Apple Hydraulics or Five Points Classic Auto Shocks.
