Guest Darracq
Can anyone tell me how much oil there should be in the oil pan of a 1917 Dodge? Thanks, Dave
dwollam
5 quarts. The float stick will be in the middle of the 2 raised bumps on the cylinder block.
Guest Darracq
Thanks for the information. My float stick dropped to the bottom during my 30 mile run last week. I didn't think the motor was using that much oil, so I drained the pan to see how much was in there.About a gallon came out, so today I cleaned the oil strainer and refilled with 5 quarts of fresh oil.The float stick is still at the bottom so I guess I now have some trouble with my float. Its four weeks since I bought this car, i'm sure getting the feeling this old girl is testing her new driver. :-)
72caddy
The float probably isn't stuck...its full of oil. The only fix is to remove your oil pan and then solder the tiny hole back up.
