Value of PA purple plates

I have an unopened mailer with owners card and PA purple plate, what are these worth? Thanks

If i rember right i payed $75.00 for mine back in 1989 and still have it on a car

Pa Purple plate #1 sold at auction maybe 20 years ago for $700 as I remember but I doubt that the average purple plate has significant value. Lots of them around.

If the plate is currently registered to a vehicle, I believe it can be transferred. Many Pennsylvania antique automobile enthusiasts loathe the new plates. Also a purple plate, much like the California black plates show that the car has most likely been in Pennsylvania and registered as an Antique for quite some time (at least prior to the 2005ish switch to the new plates.) The California black plates can now be transferred so they don't mean as much today as they did at one point.

Yes, you can transfer Pa. Antique plates provided you are the owner of the plate in qestion. Did just this last May with one of my purple plates from one vehicle to another vehicle that I owned.

The folks at PaDOT said this was only allowable if you owned the plate.

But, please don't take my word, check it out. Maybe I did not get the correct info.
