egor
Does anyone know of a supplier of replacement transmission parts for '38 Specials? With all the trouble to get a transmission out, I'd rather put in new parts than cross my fingers with used ones. The car pops out of 2nd on downhills, and lately I need to double clutch to avoid grinding gears.Thanks.
Mark Shaw
You may only need to adjust the linkage....
Jolly_John
Also remember...DON'T USE EP GEAR LUBE in the 1938 Buick transmission. Use straight 80/90w gear oil only. EP gear lube in the '38 tranny attacks the syncros, which could produce the need to double clutch. In addition, make sure your engine AND transmission mounts are good. Problems in these areas can cause some of the difficulties you have described above. John in Wisconsin
egor
Thanks for the advice. I've also got some clutch chatter. Maybe related to motor/tranny mounts?
