Guest Slim-Jim
I just found this forum and what a great find! I am doing some research on the attached picture and would like to know the make and model of the car shown. The picture was made in 1942. Does the car look like a military auto or a civilian model? Any help will be greatly appreciated.Any help on the soldier's uniform is welcome also.
West Peterson
I believe it's a Nash (or LaFayette), around 1937.
Manuel
1935 Pontiac. The speed stripes on the mudguards and the unusual tail lights are the give away.Manuel in Oz
West Peterson
Thanks Manuel. It was the speed stripes that also led me to Nash. That sure is an odd placement for the taillight.SlimWELCOME TO THE FORUMThe color of the car looks a little too light to be a military issue, but I could be wrong. Note the lion sticker in the rear window... "Roar with Gilmore".
Guest Slim-Jim
I've wondered about the lion sticker also. What does "Roar with Gilmore" mean?I really appreciate all of your help.

Guest Slim-Jim
I think you nailed it, West. I found this on ebay and I believe it's a perfect match for what's on the rear window. I can't believe how much information you guys have already given me and I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. I have another picture I'll be posting shortly. Thanks again. Guest Slim-Jim
It appears from what I've managed to find that the Gilmore gas stations were predominantly along the West coast. Do you know if there were ever any in the Pennsylvania or Ohio area?
keiser31
No, Gilmore Gas was on the west coast only.
