KBK
Greetings, I am new here and this is my first post. I need help identifying these Studebaker lamps. My best guess is they are coach lamps from around 1908. Thanks, Keith Kesselhttp://i258.photobucket.com/albums/hh259/Globallyoff/IMG_1400.jpghttp://i258.photobucket.com/albums/hh259/Globallyoff/IMG_1401.jpghttp://i258.photobucket.com/albums/hh259/Globallyoff/IMG_1402.jpghttp://i258.photobucket.com/albums/hh259/Globallyoff/IMG_1403.jpg
keiser31
They look a little bit earlier than 1908. With the square tops, they look like 1903 or so.
KBK
Thanks for your reply. Now I need to find someone that needs these for a 1903 Studebaker. Any ideas?
Richard Lichtfel
These appear to have been originally oil lamps that have been electrified. Studebaker made carriages and sleighs before they made cars. These appear to be carriage lamps and could date into the 1800's.
montrose
Keith,I am thinking that they may be closer to 1910, but can research this a bit. I am interested if they are available. They may have been carbide at one time. I sent you a PM with my contact information.Thank you,Montrose
Rick Hoover
I too would be interested in buying these lamps if they are still available. They look identical to the ones on a 1904 Studebaker Electric that I have. As far as I know, all the coach lamps used, were converted by the factory for the electric vehicles. They should also have the Studebaker logo, which is etched in the inside base plate.
KBK
I am holding these for Rick Hoover pending some minor details since he has a car that needs these lamps. Thanks to everyone for helping an old car find some coach lamps.KBK
KBK
Greetings Rick, Im sorry about the late reply, but my uncle was out of town at the Barrett Jackson auction and took weeks to get back to me since he isn't into modern cell phone technology.I told him I didn't feel real good about $200 for the pair of coachlamps. He said if he really needed them he would go much higher than that. To make a long story short, I want $250 for the pair. I am restoring 2 vintage bicycles right now and could use the money. I think you will find that the coach lamps don't need very much work as they have been indoors for decades.I can pack and send these ASAP. I will still sell them for $200, or even donate them for the correct car. Having said all of that, $250 will really help me buy parts for my project.Keith KesselShreveport, La.+112 positive feedback on ebay with screen name "globally-0ff"Please advise...........
