Bill Yacey
Has anyone tried retrofitting a GM TBI onto a 394? This seems to be a pretty simple system to retrofit aside from the intake manifold adapting.
rocketraider
I look at it this way. They put Hilborn and Algon injection on them all the time in the gasser days, so the engines will repsond to fuel injection. You might have to make up an adapter plate, but yes, I think it could work. Try the H.A.M.B. message boards if you haven't. Guys over there are always doing stuff like this.www.jalopyjournal.com

Several vendors sell adapter plates to bolt the GM TBI throttle bodies to various 4bbl intake bolt patterns. I'd use the TBI and injectors from a 454 truck - the 305/350 throttle bodies use smaller bores and injectors. I'd also use a Megasquirt computer instead of the factory unit. The Megasquirt is much easier to tailor the fuel map.
