I've been informed that non EP rated gear oil is required to be used in older transmissions and differentials. Where are these available?

Tom,

I use SAE 250 pure mineral oils in all my cars.

Shell Dentax or Texaco Thuban are avaiable in 5 gallon pails from industrial lube suppliers.

You can search for Penrite Oil on the internet and see what products they have for older cars.

If the transmission or differential has any brass bushings, the additive in the EP oils will eat little worm trails in the brass.

Onec, I called some of the major oil companys engineering departments and asked about EP lubricants in units with brass parts. They stated that they did not recomend EP lubricants where brass was in the unit.
