eric_b_1937
I want to straighten out dents in my 1937 Buick Running Board trim. I would like to know if the trim is a double wall construction with stainless over a steel core? That is how mine appears to be constructed, but I have not removed it from the car yet.If double wall is the case then what is the best method for restoration? Jack Welch
As I remember those moldings are just a single wall, with a small flange, but not a double wall
eric_b_1937
I pulled the Running board trim mouldings off the car and they are double wall construction. The inner steel liner has had considerable corrosion. This caused convex bulging of the stainless cover I also have some concave dents from car doors etc. So since it is a real risk of further damage to try and pull the stainless cover, I am looking for a pair of good running board trim. They are about 63 inches long and any leads will help.
1937-44
Hi Eric, The running board trim mouldings are being reproduced in Michigan. They look nice and are single wall construction. I bought a set about a year ago and as I recall they were about $240. Much cheaper than a supplier a little closer to where I live. I can't give you a phone number or email but you can drop them a line at: Restoration Services P.O. Box 442 Perry, Michigan 48872 Good luck.
