jps
I have the original headlamp rims from my '25 Touring, and the plating is still pretty good but there are several small to medium length cracks in the metal. I have some "new" copper ones that are not original but which were made close to the correct shape. I could nickel plate them and have a nice set of rims, but I would prefer to use the original ones if I new how to fix them. The original metal is very thin, and I don't know what the base metal is, so how would I fix the cracks? Could I solder them or will this be too difficult to bother? Maybe I could just use them as is - what has anyone else done? Thanks.
nearchoclatetown
I think you will find they are spun brass. They can be soldered carefully, not much heat or they will warp. Most I've seen are cracked.
