Guest RICHM V-8 Posted July 15, 2009 Share Posted July 15, 2009 Please re-post with correct engine identification. COUNT THE NUMBER OF SPARK PLUGS! Ford never made a straight 8 engine. If it is an original Ford car engine from 1946-1948, it is either a flathead V-8 with two rows of 4 cylinders on opposing sides (original cast iron cylinder heads were marked "59AB") or straight flathead inline 6 cylinder engine. There are two type of 6 cyl. engine blocks. Early type: "G" has distributor in front and later type: "H" has distributor on LH side of block. Thanks for filling us in.
