avantey
I think I have to replace the batteries in my new to me '01 F250 diesel. Does anyone know about the new Optima? batteries with a gel center or something?
Guest simplyconnected
Everyone I know swears by them. They cost a lot, but are smaller and pack a bigger wallop (CCA's).Optima found, by rolling the plates (like a capacitor), they could pack a tighter battery, saving space. Other than that, they are still a lead-acid battery.
Ron Green
I put one in my tow mule pick-up a few years ago and it works great. It can sit in the winter and hold a charge a lot longer then a wet cell, plus life expectancy is greater. I also have 2 others for vehicles that sit a lot. avantey
Thanks for the opinions on the Optima! Unfortunately I checked the price and it was real steep- about $175 per with sales tax. Instead I bought two DEKA 880CCA, group 65 units for that price tonite. Money is a little too tight right now for the Optima sticker shock!thanks- bill
Guest simplyconnected
I would do the exact same. I can get good American 12-v batteries cheaply at Wal-Mart.I never understood why 6-v batt's are so expensive. They deliver MUCH less power, and cost more money.
