arnulfo de l.a.
on the rear end of my 65 riv gs the differencial housing has "343D" stamped on it and a "70" .the carrier flange has "RRR" stamped on it. i looked on the roa site to see if there was a reference to these stamps but there was none. the oil fill plug has the tag indicating a posi track diff.the "RRR" is stamped where the circled x is supposed to be (according to factory manual).can anyone tell me what i have here as far as ratios and whether or not this is the original rear end? thanks arnulfo
Patrick91914
I can't help you with identifying your rear end, but I can tell you that the 3.42 posi was standard but other ratios from 2.78 up to 4.45 were available. Any of those would be correct for a '65 Gran Sport.
Guest Bronie
I have a 65 as well and picked up a 3.42 posi rear end because my stock was a 3.08 non posi. The same numbers, 343D and 70 are on the bottom of the carrier housing of my rear end. So I would say it's safe to say you have a 3.42 posi rear end. John1965 Buick Riviera Custom.
