You're trying hard. I understand that you're angry and want to harm my reputation. If that's how you choose to spend your time, I have no control over that. Remember, this all started because you were upset because you had the understanding that I sold the Rear Overall Mat behind your back (for more money) becuase you had not heard from me. That was not the case. In fact, as I mentioned I was dealing with family across the country. I recognized that I offered the mat for a low price and really just really wanted to offer a good deal to someone who could use it more than I . . and when you said that you wanted it, I can tell you that I had five or six offers shortly thereafter after that for more money and turned them all down. You ultimately decided that you no longer wanted it, making it available to the open market. I listed it on ebay and it has been sold to someone who read this thread. I haven't read the other comments or folks' impression of your position. Again, I have no control over that. This is supposed to be a hobby. Yet, you choose to stalk me in an effort to say I don't keep my word. I neither stole from you nor sold you something defective. This was a communication problem. Could I have handled it better? Of course, but then again, you should should have approached me better and not assumed that I was being underhanded. Life just got in the way. It happens. All that I can say is that it's unfortunate that you've had a bad experience with me. It wasn't intentional. I can tell you that some who have purchased my items have read this thread and that people who purchase my items on ebay are ALWAYS satified with what I offer (hence, my 100% rating). Many reading this I'm sure have purchased my reproduction aluminum Super Wildcat decal because it's the best available and everyone who bought one has been satisfied by any measure including product quality, packaging, shipping, and price. All that I can say to others is that if I'm selling something that you can use and you don't want to buy it based one man's experience in which he was neither harmed, misled, nor been told lies, then there's not much I can do about that; however, if you need an item and whether you've purchased from me in the past or not, then you know that I will continue to deliver quality and value on exceptional items that are either difficult or impossible to find elsewhere. I mounted this under the dash on my car. That's the only way I've ever seen the one or two that I've ever crossed paths with installed. . .but, I just checked my NOS "in the box" compass and see that there is a suction cup that allows for an alternate mounting method. I suspect that mounting in on the windshield would expose the unit to extreme temperatures causing discoloration or other damage...It's better off under the dash IMHO. The unit in the ebay listing is in excpetional condition and the pics don't do it justice.

<sigh> Still no progress except now the bumpers are installed. I fire it up one a month; however, now that the temps have cooled down to the 70s, working in the garage is possible so long as it doesn't get much colder. I'd planned to do start putting chrome on the car this weekend, but I think temps will be in the 60s which may be a little cold for me. . .brrrrr.

I agree and if I could not find a set of originals, I'd fork over the cash for a repro set and have them polished. The dress-up kit using the chromed steel covers is okay, but nothing beats the look of a nailhead with AL valve covers. Even if they're a bit more pricey, you'll be enjoying that look long after you've forgotten the extra money that you spent. There will come a day when you will not be able to buy either.

For those of you following this thread, I apologize for the distraction: SBRMD, unfortunately, I've been 2500 miles away from home burying a family member and settling an estate. I regret that my focus has not been on responding to your interest in a 50 year old rubber mat for your precious car. I always find it interesting how some folks first assume the worst about others. I really don't give a damn about a few extra dollars that anyone could have offered (and no one has). Give me a break. If you have an issue with me, this is not the place to do it.

No need to chrome aluminum valve covers. You can have them polished so that they look chrome plated. That's what's on my car.

SMS (http://www.smsautofabrics.com/) carries NOS material and they can also make the top to fit your car. They did the top for my '65 and the fit and quality is second to none. . .and better than you'd get from any shop beucase I think the seams are heat sealed. I paid about $300 for the top and paid an upholsterer to install. You can do it yourself, but it's difficult (and I went to auto upholstery school during the summers while I was in college). Leave it to people who do this everyday.

As one who has an NOS trunk lock emblem on my car, I can tell you that nothing beats the look; however, there is an alternative. Emblemagic (http://www.emblemagic.com/index.html) will restore your emblem to like new. It ain't cheap, but you'll get better results than digging through your wife's nail polish stash. To me, the trunk lock cover is one of the most critical details on that car's exterior. I wouldn't spend a gazillion dollars during the restoration only to cheap it out in the end by scrimping on this critical detail. This reminds me of those paper Super Wildcat decals that are out there. I refused to put one on my car because they just don't look good enough. So, I paid big money to have them reproduced correctly. Hopefully, many folks enjoy their Super Wildcats today just a little more every time they lift the hood and see my decal. While I understand the need for the "nail polish workaround" to avoid the sticker shock associated with purchasing an NOS emblem (I paid $300 for mine 15 years ago), I think that emblemagic may be a viable option for those who are willing to step up just a little.
