Pat_n_Pat
Hello out there!Attached are pictures of a Delco Generator/Starter/Distributor that was part of my wife's father's collection of "stuff". The last Patent Date is February 5, 1916. I cannot find a part number, but there is a serial number 11?265330 stamped on the case (the question mark is for a number that can't be read). The Distributor Case hase the # 28944, and what I think is 8 H.The Distributor cam has 6 lobes, so it is for a 6. Early Dyke's (online) show what I think is a similar unit of a 1916 Hudson. We are curious as to what cars this unit might have been used on, any ideas on how to find the model #, and any other info that might be available (for example, was the starter-generator generic, and the distributor car specific?)Thanks in advance for any help!Pat
Leif Holmberg
Looks a bit like Buick 1916-1920. Leif in Sweden.
Mark Shaw
The distributor was integral to the unit. Several GM cars and trucks between 1914 & 1925 used Delco starter-generators. This one does look like a Buick but my nameplate does not clearly state the model number. I have a 1924 Master Six Buick that has only July 29, 1919 listed as the last patent date on the unit.I hope this helps....
Pat_n_Pat
Leif:Thanks for your note. We have this up on eBay, and have changed the listing. Two others people have confirmed Buick, too. It is really great how the Internet puts so much info at our disposal!Pat
