Guest Norm Sparks
Can anyone direct me to a source of either aftermarket or the replacement insert type oil filter for the standard 8. Everything I find is for what appears to be the senior cars. I need the one which is bypass and has two 1/4 pipe fittings facing the firewall.Norm Sparks Lord Selkirk Region

tbirdman
I talked with both today. Burr Riply is one. His is a plastic material which surrounds a aluminum core. I have one of his and made the mistake of blasting it with aluminum oxide. So now I need to decide to repair or replace The other guy, is listed in the Packard Cormorant and is in Minn. He makes his out of billet aluminum. I don't have the mag with me so if someone could help with his number.Difference between the two is: Burly-plastic compund with aluminu, core and $350 shippedThe other: billet aluminum, $475 and no raised letering on end towards firewall. Also supplies oil filter wrench for filter with purchase.
Restorer32
We have used Ripley's units and when painted and installed they are indistinguishable from original. No affiliation, just a satisfied customer. No experience with the billet filters.
Friartuck
The one I used from Bob Anzalone in Michigan is a machined version. About $425 with non-slip wrenches. Also indistinguishable from original. Looks even better with correct decal from Osborne Reproductions in Georgia.
