imported_Badger Guy
Are the GM big car columns basicly the same? I know the shift, and signal handels as well as the sterring wheel differ from the Chevy, Olds, Buick, and Pontiac. But what about the main part of the column? Would they be the same?Tom

imported_Badger Guy
Thanks for the reply Joe, But I should have mentioned that I'm looking for a steering column for a 1960 Chevy Impala. I was wondering if the columns were the same in the other GM cars. What years, if any, would interchange. Thanks.Tom
rocketraider
Tom, I think all 59-60 columns will interchange, but the trim where it meets the dash is different between makes. I'm thinking a Pontiac column will be closest, but Pontiacs had HydraMatics which might pose a shifter gate problem vs a Powerglide or Turboglide. Olds and Buick have big diecast pieces where the column meets the dash. It's possible 59-64 Chevy columns are the same, since the chassis were all the same those years.
