Oh, I found it. The Horn of my Dreams......I pick this really cool horn up on eBay not all that long ago. It is a Klaxonet and is the horn that was used on Buicks of my vintage. 1915. Yes, it is all brass and electric also. These were actully painted black with a nickled bell but I could not see hiding all that beautifull brass.

and people look at me out of the corner of their eye when I say my 54 Roadmsters are sexy....

I somewhat agree with you in that it does make the car look "horny"... Congrats Dave, glad all your searching finally paid off.

No, it is not Mark, From the research that I have done these were offered in either all black, or a blue and black Combination. It was already Chartreuse when I got it so I left it alone. Of course like an old friend of mine use to say, "God made only original colors and I use them". I have heard though the grape vine that a lot of early cars were repainted right at the dealers before they left with their new owners so who knows. An old timer was looking at it recently and thought it was brushed laquer which from what I understand is a lost art today.

I see that the horn was made in my home state, New Jersey. You'd be surprised how many manufacturers (past & present) have made their HQ in the garden state.

A car like that deserves a nice set of nickled, or at least chromed, horns. Irene would like it even better then! wink.gif

I know, always something else to spend money on but what a nice improvment over old and dull it would be. laugh.gif Dave!

Anyone else want to show off their Horn???

I have a hand operated horn of similar vintage from the same manufacturer.

Details from name plate:

“HAND KLAXONET”

Trade Mark Registered 1915

Patented 31 Mar 1908, 25 May 1909, 2 May 1910

Lovell-McConnell Mfg. Co.

Newark, N.J., USA.

Stamped serial number: 134382.

Made to bolt to the door - reached through the drivers window to push the knob. Appears to be steel.

I am new to Fora and will try to get it onto the parts for identification or Buy/Sell threads. Loaded a shot of it but can't tell if it worked. Any information gratefully received, either here or Brian1Grey@gmail.com.

Better watch out. All you guys showing off your horns might border on the side of pornagraphy. I'm staying out of this.

Might be Buicknagraphy. Your Buick will be taken away by the Buick Pertection Services.

Yes, they made steel ones also that were hand operated. I see them on ebay often. The all brass electric version like mine seems to be pretty rare. KLAXON built a ton of different models with that ever popular, unmistakable, AAAAHHHOGGAAA sound. Dave

Say Dan, I think we should put in for a new forum rule for that word. Buicknagraphy would most certainly be allowable!

That would even cover us for the "Girls on Buicks" Thread.

laugh.gif Dave!
