I just got the blue '89 in Houston. I have some investigating to do now and I am sure someone will help me for grins.

The hood emblem is the large dia like a 90-91. Was it only the '88s that had the small one?

Trans works OK when first started but later will not go into gear and/or slips. Doesn't act like bad clutches and fluid is good color. I would almost guess a stopped up filter. Any thoughts?

The '88 hood emblem is the only year with the small size. I am assuming the fluid level is good. Then yes I would start with the filter.

Hey guys, What is the diameter of the '88 hood emblem? I have a '88 model but the diameter seems large to me. I may have a '89 or later hood and/or emblem.

The smaller one is approx. 2".

The larger one is Approx 3".

Sea Foam makes a cleaner type additive for transmissions. Trying a can of that in your transmission wouldn't hurt anything and may help. Has the car not been driven much lately?

I will likely wait until January after deer season and it has cooled off a little. Then it will be nicer under a car here. I have decided to pull the tranny pan and check the filter before I do anything else. If that is not the problem, I will likely just swap out the tranny. I have plenty laying around. Thanks for the suggestion.
