harry yarnell
I've got the ABS amber lite lit constantly, and I've tried to read the codes. I get a code 99; well, according to the shop manual, there's no code 99.I short pin A and G together on the ALDL, turn ignition ON, and count the blinks. What am I doing wrong? Ronnie
What model is your car? Did you get any BCM codes on the touch screen?
harry yarnell
Car's an '88 (Teves). Havn't checked BCM codes; besides, ABS codes don't show up as BCM codes. You jumper A & G on the ALDL, and count the blinks of the amber ABS lamp. Just like the old days of pulling codes by counting blinks of the CE lamp. Guest Brad Gales
When I worked on my 88 I initially misinterpreted the blinks. See section 5E1-8 of the service manual under "Reading ABS Trouble Codes" item 5:"...be careful to count only the number of times the lamp turns on and goes out....The last pulse, when the lamp remains on, should not be counted as a flash...." Guest tomt
Just curious Harry: Have you replaced the Master Brake Relay. Most of the time with the light that is the issue and it's cheap to try it out.
Barney Eaton
Harry, I checked the dedicated Teves service book and agree there are no codes above 78. Also looking for codes at the connector will only give you codes for the ABS, and I guess that is what you are looking for since you only have a yellow light. There are a limited number of things that will turn on the yellow lamp.* When brake pressure is low* When fluid level is low (or the sending unit is bad)* When system is disabled do to system fault.
