  1. Parts dont look expensive, or am I fooling myself?
  2. Update.. oil doesn't smell burnt. I hear now when he puts battery in it sparks.. In going to talk to that mechanic during the week.. do 74 fans attach directly to the crankshaft or does it engage after a bit.. he said something about it free floating?
  3. Sorry I'm no mechanic, n I wasnt there..It wont turn over as I understand it does nothing. No it never started again.. I'm now thinking either seized or shorted wires from sitting n rodents might have gotten to some wires..you're right it could be fuel but generally they buck n stall.. Does it make sense now?
  4. My friend called me with an issue he is having with a 74 Eldo. He bought the car after it was sitting a long time in the garage. If I have the story right it was brought to a general mechanic ..oil change filter n battery were changed , etc. That part I'm checking on.. He took it on a 40 mile trip no problem. The next day drove it on some in town chores and it died while driving n wouldn't restart.. (btw the car has 45000 original on it. . ) He had it towed to a service center. Couldn't find a problem .. didnt lose oil or over heat.. it wont do anything now! Any ideas what to look at? I thought vapor lock or motor seized ?? He's gonna try to turn the fan .. Any of you have things to check to help figure it out.. Thanks
  5. Similar situation. I worked in NYC in Real Estate for 20 yrs. There were shows that would call us and asked if we had 2 houses they could use on their TV program . Apparently the buyers already bought a place, they needed us to offer the 2 they never picked and rejected after the fact. Talk about unrealistic, what agent, or buyer for that matter, looks at just 3 homes and buys one of the 3 ? Really ? Yes, it's all for the show! Guess this was too.
  6. Collected these items for my car.. sold the car.. so now the literature should go to a good home.. should be worth $95. For the lot..
  7. Got these with another car. Not sure which year model it's from I'm guessing.. they should be worth $120..plus postage
  8. Thanks..so 68. But the side vent /dual exhaust..confused me about model. Glad we agreed aftermarket vent...
  9. Thanks Decent idea, the used car guy . No Duesenberg, V-16 Town Car, or Cloud 111.. .just cheaper fun drivers.
  10. Hmm lots of mixed options..I've done both ..I find collectors zoom in as they understand costs to fix etc. These arent high dollar buys nor are they complicated vehicles..I already know what they are just need real eyes on them ..Im too far away to go myself. Thanks
  11. Drove by a 68/69?? Skylark convert. As I recall it had a vent detail on the middle front fender between top n rocker area, which I thought odd n unusual. I've seen models with a lower fender vent detailing not one higher up on the body around the height of door handle but on front fenders. I know I'm being vague but I didnt stop to see more..hoping someone who knows Skylarks around this year can figure it out for me from my description???
  12. Because I'm not looking for specific model year info, Im interested in rot, bondo, dents, etc..general running condition.
  13. I'm looking into cars there. Any recommendations for someone good to look them over? Thanks, RM
  14. Bought this car some months back with the hope to restore her. However my 1800s Colonial Home restoration seems to be currently taking my time and money ! The car is mostly solid and straight. Is a late production color (Bittersweet and White outside and black and white inside).its fairly optioned power windows seat antenna, air, and deluxe radio..its been off the road since 65. And stored inside until I just lost my storage .The interior is very original and nice except for front seat though fabric is a viable currently. There's is No engine or Transmission( located a few around, or go modern), or battery. The tires are terrible but seen to hold air. This is a very worthy Father and Son project . I have tons of photos too. Also available for n extra fee is a group of original literature items.. she is sold as is where is..Serious buyers only. Need to get her to a good, worthy home. More pics available.. ASKING $3400.
  15. Yes, thanks.. I used to belong a few years back. Reach out to me and let's chat.
  16. Looking for solid, straight, mechanically good ,presentable SC111 1963-1966 standard sedan ( or Bentley equivalent ) LHD, Prefer later series ,shaded windshield, and monotone paint, but will consider all, air, power windows. Just a good honest driver to use daily, so Please.. no high dollar cars.. Pics in and out, chassis number, service records/history helps..
  17. I've heard some interesting ideas and several discussing the likely failure rates and cautions. It's all appreciated..Didnt I read somewhere "Do what you love and the money will follow? It won't feel like work. If we can keep the negative gloom and doom aside (fully understanding it's there ever lurking in the dark corners) and focus more..as some did, on more creative fun things to consider having (doing?) at such an establishment, I'd enjoy hearing those.
  18. Okay, guys time to clarify the deal and the concept. It's a small 32x100 building on the main Road in to a mostly boating area, yes seasonal, already made in 2 large interior spaces..outside there's a 7700 sq ft asphalt parking lot. Behind the building, there's open land about 80' deep to build more. There are area events all season and parades that go through the town. The current taxes are under $1000 per yr. My thought was storage ( yes I checked for myself and no car storage available within 20+ miles all used up for cars and boats about a $100 for container type) and cars on consignment, meeting place for car clubs , cruise nights, maybe picnics, sell coffee and bagels, cakes, Ice cream unavailable in town now. This is a sleepy boring town with little to do. So there you have most of it. Ask what you like. I heard the cautions but this is a small operation, yes I'd like to make some money too!
