Thanks.. It almost seems like the sun stretched it and sagged it .. the seams opened as the threads fall apart.. ah but the cost ??
-
While Annette was an icon of the 1950’s with all due respect she wasn’t Monroe or Garbo..
I understand paying a bit more for a true Celebrity auto but who’s car it was what I think of them and of course if the car is interesting at all makes the big difference . Some socialites and Royalty would be worthy of a few extra bucks too.. again depending on the car.. wasn’t it Sinatra that had a K car woody wagon, but also had a Dual Ghia ? Here the Dual Ghia would be way more interesting to me.

This maybe a dumb question.. and Yes I know someone has to see it, but I’m not looking for an exact dollar figure.. more a range of cost and suggestions of who is capable here in the Southern US of doing such a job.. while I’ve owned a ton of cars most were 49-79..I’ve never worked on, or owned, a car from the ‘30’s! .. So I have no idea the costs to redo this baggy/saggy rear roof area. The glass likely is delaminated so it should likely be replaced at the same time..The interior is decent I see no roof leaks .
Words to the wise?

A done or high point car today is 100-150.. they made about a 1000.. no Vette no VW no muscle or resto mod .. the combo is rare but the lower isn’t me .. yes I have the original invoice mentioning the color as built . Paint is all original as is the whole 2 owner car.
-
Seems half are for keeping it original, the other half ..do what I want ..
so if there’s any checking or veining in the original old lacquer those whole areas must get stripped, or is there some other procedure to address that issue? The crazing in spots on the car is all in the color I don’t like !
-
I planned to keep it .. but we are all caregivers till it goes to someone else, right?
I’ve owned n know enough about cars to know is valuable.. the interior is bone color so not an issue .I’m in the design world so picking a suitable secondary color isn’t a problem . The car is all original ..including the drab lower tobacco color . I’d be the 3rd owner .. So what it is isn’t important, I’m asking if I’m ruining anything, or lessening it’s value .. what are the rules ? What do old car buyers think? -
Found a car I’ve wanted ..but hate the lower color! So on a valuable car is it lessened to change the color to another authentic color for that car and year?
Rules? Opinions? Remarks ?
Normally I’m one to keep everything very original, but I totally hate the one color ..

Was it an option $ on regular coupes ? Was it an early or later headliner?
-
Calling all 58 Experts! Recently I heard of an “optional” headliner on 58 Coupe deville it appeared to be an embossed vinyl or plastic with a rectangular like bar looking repeated motif ..but no chrome bars or perforated vinyl like the ones I knew and often see ..
So can anyone tell me if that option shows up in Salesman Data book . I think I see something like a hint of it on a Seville in the 58 Brochure .. so owners of series 62/ CDV or Seville let me know so I can learn something new .. or tell me it’s a replacement aftermarket trim .. ??
-
Junk yards that specialize in these years and new for a Coupe de Ville .. exterior n interior mostly

-
I had 2 of the XRS the door panels and trim was very cheap looking and fake wood turned green as they aged but the rear window was kinda cool !

There’s just a bit of quality differences

Looking for someone who knows RR Cloud 111s well and can go over body n mechanics for me in an area west of Raleigh ..
-
The first was white blk top red seats but a **black upper dash sold in San Mateo in the 70’s
the second was that metallic blue with a silver interior. Sold in th 90’s I’m guessing in Nj or Ny ** special detail it had a tonneau cover that covered the whole back seat with snaps and toggles to hold it in place
So anyone know ,own , or have seen either of these cars ??

Thanks. This one doesn’t have the clicking but it does have a tranny leak I think the guy said mostly when running .
I’m not too sure why guys aren’t wanting them they’re a nice style that stood the ravages of time and taste..So would it become a decent daily driver around town n hour trips or forget it? I used to use a 77-79 CDV. For daily driver till I started buying new cars every 2 years ..
-
I found a factory non vinyl top car but it needs a tranny seal .. are these reliable cars ? I owned an XRS Toro and remember doing ( I think ) Transaxles? that we’re clicking I don’t recall anything else an issue
Any of you guys who know them and know price to fix them?

Restoring a padded long grain roof

I agree it looks like leather grained. And might in fact be leather .. I said Long grain because commonly they were and I’m unsure it the original material was changed over time ..
