  1. I flew into Detroit from Vancouver WA and drove to Hershey with a buddy & got rained out.

I heard that Hershey got over 11" of rain Thursday and Friday!

So, we went to the AACA museum Thursday to get inside and see something. We arrived just in time for the power to go out. Somebody hit a power pole.

They evacuated the museum, but I got a voucher to go back someday.... Who know when that may be, this was my first time at Hershey.....

    Mark,

I passed by the BCA Tent, signed in, and asked if you were at Hershey..

    Sorry I missed you..

Spoke with Adam Welcome 3 days ago and urged him and Barbara to consider coming to Portland next year ( he has cousins there, too!) - it is a possibility

Also trying to get him to come to Hershey next year

Hershey Tuesday and Wednesday were very good, and the show on Saturday was Fantastic

  2. Wayne,

Sorry I missed you, Marty Roth and others I normally see at Hershey. My new job did not give me much time for Hershey this year.

BTW, I thought of you and Marty on Friday as I was changing a flat tire on my trailer in the rain on the way to Hershey. The story you told me once about a flat you had on the way to a meet and the flat Marty had at the Bristol meet both popped into me head as I was changing the flat on my trailer. Thank Goodness I had my "Trailer Aid" ramp. Just pulled the trailer up on the ramp and changed the flat tire. Was done in under 10 minutes. Best of all did not have to unload my car from the trailer.

    Charlie,

We missed you this year, and glad you have the Trailer-Aid lightweight fiberglass ramp - as we age, we look for easier ways not to hurt ourselves --- and thanks one more time for the Breaker-Bar and the torque wrench at Bristol when my Harbor Freight torque wrench finally said "time to replace".

Hope to see you at upcoming Meets & Tours

  3. Now, the man tells me!???? Either way, spending that kind of money requires a ride, in my opinion. Oh well, it always takes me 2 tries to get it right. 2 tries in a career, in a marriage, now in a special automobile.:D

Same experiences here -- TRY IT BEFORE YOU BUY IT !!

and yes, Frank Sinatra sang it too, "The Second Time Around",

with both feet on the ground....

Many of my friends and family would agree

Impetuous youthful quickies VS mature carefully thought out decisions..

Hang in there, my friend... the right one will find you, and possibly when you least expect it !

  4. Harry,

Scroll down below and click on "GO ADVANCED"

then scroll farther down and click on "MANAGE ATTACHMENTS"

when the box pops up, look toward the upper right side for "ADD FILES"

Click on that, and select pictures from your computer - these may have been sent to your laptop from your phone, and saved..

when finished, click on "DONE" in the lower right corner--

then you may preview your submission, and/or just "Go for it!!"

Welcome, Dr. Harry, to the FORUM -- and for all who may be wondering, Harry did not street-rod the Buick - he saved the vintage Buick drive-line from a Street-Rodder for guys and gals like us.

He is a noted and talented Corvette conneseur--konnisoor-carnivore- Oh Shucks --COLLECTOR/RESTORER - and long time friend to my family and to Trimacar, maybe 35 - 40 years??

best regards to your sweeter half, and the pups

    Marty

    PS:

If you still have problems, just email me the pictures and I'll post them for you (no two-headed calves-please)

  5. Jay,

To the best of my knowledge, the brass "Buick" script was not a factory item, but rather was added by many of us when we restored, or just "fixed-up" our Brass-Era" cars.

Actually, I was planning to buy, or to order one for my 1914 Buick B-37 when I got to Hershey next week.

    Are you considering selling yours?

If so, I'd be interested - please email me or PM

    Thanks,

    Marty

  6. If you take it apart, you can examine the length and sequence of the pins , and then reassemble your old pins in the replacement lock mechanism. That way your replacement will work from your existing key.

Another old-timer's trick was to simply take all of the pins out and reassemble. That way, most folks would not know it , but any comparable keyway (from any other GM car) would open the lock, but the door was otherwise locked.

  7. Both could be good cars - just depends on your preference.

You can tell from my signature that I have a soft spot for Buicks. Despite that, in my opinion the Riviera has the potential to be far more collectible, and would offer rarity.

On the other hand, it might be easier finding parts for the Ford.

Finished installing the Starter-Generator on the 1914 Buick (after minor repair to bracket, and had to tap for re-sized bolt).

Drove about 10 miles, came home and properly secured floorboard - took another shoprt drive, and then got a better adjustment for brakes - even better than before.

Hope to drive it again next weekend, maybe to local show, prior to leaving for Hershey !!

  9. Dave,

One way to check is to:

    1. remove your air filter housing so that you can see into the carburetor, then

    2. prop the choke open, again so you can see into the carburetor, then

    3. manually operate the accelerator linkage to the carb, either with your hand, or by having someone step on the gas pedal

    4. observe if you see a stream of gas "shoot" into the carb

If you see a shot of gas, then the accelerator pump diaphragm is probably not the problem, but if you do not see that stream of gas, then it appears to be the cause.

I once saw a case where the diaphragm was ok, but its linkage had failed ..

    good luck,

and please let us know the results

"No Lucas problems here not to say others have had their issues with British cars or any car for that matter."

You know I appreciate British cars as much as you do, and certainly didn't mean to offend....

Just continuing some light humor, and hope you'll take my comments for what they're worth,

    Marty
