  1. I own two enclosed trailers, one an all-steel Tow-Eze with steel diamond plate floor, and the other an all-aluminum Forest River with aluminum floor. Both are well-built. I also once owned a Haulmark - they are reasonably built to-a-price in my opinion -- not a bad trailer by any stretch, but they did not seem to be the same level of quality as some of the more expensive brands.

    I would take the Featherlite.

and to go full circle, with this video and song that some of you may remember done by member Bob (Robert) LeBlanc of the day my son and I visited Bob and the Landau a few days after it arrived at Bob's

Henry Shane's museum, Cars of Yesteryear is walking distance (less than a half-mile) from our home, and is a wonderful collection of cars, toys, and Pontchartrain Beach Amusement Park memorabilia, occasionally open to special groups. Our local club was invited several years ago.

  3. Speaking of Clowns.....

Several years ago at a local AACA club show in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana, raising donations for the Ronald McDonald House in New Orleans, my then 4-year-old grandson won the 27" 21-speed Dr. Pepper special edition bicycle and was awarded the grand prize by none other than Ronald McDonald. I wish I still had the photo of my grandson on the bike along with "Ronald", one hand on Nathan, the other arm on the driver's window sill and that huge shoe on the running board of the 1934 Buick.

  4. 2016 will be my 33rd consecutive year at Hershey.

Back in the mid-1990s I even tried to convince my daughter that she could not give birth to my grandson during that week -- of course you can count on your kids not following instructions...

It appears that Bob will likely be sharing our apartment - and we are looking forward to meeting another Buick guy face-to-face !

  5. Or...

at the very least, fold down the top, and if reasonable, you could remove and protect the windshield. I did this to protect the 1927 Chevy roadster when using an open trailer to tow back from Yellowstone Park to New Orleans after the 1994 VCCA 4-cylinder Chevy tour of Yellowstone Park. This protected the windshield and top, and also reduced wind resistance. It might not be as important if you are only towing 2 hours, but we had a multi-day trip.

If you could rent or borrow an enclosed trailer you would be better off - even ask a friend in your local club....

  6. Marty, it appears that your Cadillac also has the ultra-rare "Auto Pilot" option. Where is the driver?!?

    Thanks, Matt,

The ultra-rare "Auto-Pilot" option is a New Orleans Parade exclusive where the driver has time to jump out of the car, snap a few photos, throw beads and dubloons to the cheering crowd, and get back into the car to "Pilot" it to the next delay of parade. This particular Easter Parade is organized by Chris Owens, an aging exotic dancer who appeared quite aged when I first visited New Orleans in 1968 - and she looks almost exactly the same today -- amazing what silicone, plastic surgery, and great outfits can do -- kind-a like a "Resto-Mod" ??

  7. Or......you could go the other way --- serious class in a big, comfortable, solid,78,000 mile no-rust 1970 Cadillac triple black convertible with All OF THE OPTIONS for about the same price.

    Mine could be available .....

New correct black leather interior and glass rear window - auto-temperature A/C works, as does cruise control, P/S, P/B, Power windows, top, and seat, completely restored steering and suspension - no rust ever, and always collector-owned ---

A serious cruiser with class and style, and a few minor "hickeys" with paint--- so, very different choices available

    Good luck with your hunt

  8. Back in 1962 I bought my 1956 Bel-air convertible with Power-Pak off the Used Car Lot at Reedman Chevrolet in Langhorne, PA.

There was a race track (Langhorne Speedway?) directly behind the dealership and customers were encouraged to take potential purchases out to the track.

In 1969 I went into Import Auto Sales in New Orleans to buy a set of Driving Lights and Fog Lights to install on my wife's 1967 Toyota Crown Station Wagon. We drove the wagon to Grand Isle, Louisiana from New Orleans every Friday night, and had to deal with heavy fog. Jack didn't have any lights in stock but tossed me a set of keys to a 1967 Citroen DS-21 which had all of the lights mounted on the front bumper. He told me to take the car for the weekend to check out the intensity and pattern, and if I liked them he would order me a set. That next Monday I bought the DS-21, and have owned many more Citroens since.

A good sales person knows when to stop talking and let the product do the talking, and when to dangle - and when to set the "hook".

  9. If I buy another car (possibly tomorrow) I may or may not show it, but will likely be transporting it via the Virginia Beach Meet. I'll gladly cover the $25 to store my car and trailer in a secure location for the several days we'll be in attendance, even if we are only judging.....

Cheap Insurance for the equipment and car, in my opinion....

  10. Our hobby would benefit from real stories being broadcast about factual history - much more than "quickie resto-mods and quick flip for quick profit", and let the buyer beware!

I will be delighted to "Tivo" quality episodes so we can watch them when we return from attending AACA Meets and Tours.

  11. Yes, I saw that on an identical (but restored) '37 Roadmaster 80C.

It looked very sharp, but for now I'm keeping mine "All-Original", just the way Flint sent it to NYC for Fiorello's use....

... now, what do you think of the red trim pictured here? The area below the windows is painted the same red as the pin stripes on the wheels of that Buick.

    Thanks for the thought,

    Marty

  12. Returning from New Jersey for Dale's sister's funeral, we were in Fairfax, Virginia Friday night and awoke to serious flakes. Roads were relatively clear as we drove west on I-66 to Front Royal, and then south along I-81, but the ground was covered with a blanket of the white stuff until we were pretty far south. Thankfully there were no problems driving as we were in Dale's little Sebring convertible - the 4WD was at home in New Orleans.
