Tom: Authenticity manual show the column color to be a "mahogany metalic." Years ago I was told by some old timers that the maroon paint on 1965 Buicks was a good match. Also the rims have three silver painted rings...spaced 3/16" apart. First and third rings are 1/16" size each and middle stripe is 1/8" in size. Any good paint store should be able to match the column color. Manual states "Steering Column Tube Assembly, including wall grommet and
Emergency Brake Handle and Dash Brackets are mahogany metallic." Hope this helps.
You really need the LZOC authenticity manual to restore the car to its original condition. Check with Earle Brown for one. He is listed on the LZOC web page under "sources" Click on sources and scroll down to his listing. Very good source. Good luck on the rare car.

Air cleaner not 41 Lincoln. Looks fairly compete from the few pictures provided. Have fun. Do you have the body number (from small plate just left of center) on firewall and the Serial number?
-
Yep. It's the right one. Same as my 47.

My 1970 LZOC directory shows your Dad joining the LZOC in 1970 and dropping his membership after 1972. No record in the directory from that date on. The directory does not show any information about a car-only his name, PO box and Livingston, Texas. Sorry our records no help. John

Anybody remember the color of the faceplate on Edsel's 41 LC at his home?
-
Look at EBay #220693918880. Your Lincoln appears to be a 1946-1948 Lincoln V-12 coupe or at least what is left of one.

Our club has lost an irreplaceable mentor. His knowledge will be missed. Our oldtimers are diminshing rapidly...

1938 1939 L-Z air cleaner
in Lincoln & Zephyr
Posted
Jim. You might want to contact James R, Kyle in South Bend, Indiana. Listed in LZOC membership roster as owning a 1938 Conv. sedan. Not too far away from you.
Also, look on page 17 of your 1940 owners manual. Isn't that a picture of the air cleaner you're asking about? Possibly illustrating a 39 or 38 air cleaner) Could there be a similar photo in your 1938 owners manual?
Is that the opening for the air cleaner to manifold tube to fit into in the bottom front of the questioned air cleaner?
