Here is a contemporary photo of Oatman's Main St. from about the same vantage point as the Velie photo. Grandpa

Interesting photo, taken in Oatman, Arizona, of a circa 1923 Velie that is apparently on a cross country factory sponsored endurance run (note the sign below the radiator with the Velie name on it). Are there any thoughts as to the year of the car and if the factory sponsored an endurance run? Grandpa

Hudson, circa 1923. Grandpa

Dave & Buicks39, I would also like to add that the first car pictured in this forum post (at the Linden plant) is likely a Buick because of the deep and tall recess in the firewall to clear the Buick ohv engine. The basic body was the same for the other GM brands that shared the particular body, but the firewall design is unique to Buick. Grandpa

Dave & Buicks39, The first photo in this forum post (the two men working the upholstery inside of a car body) was taken at the Linden, NJ, plant. Grandpa

I would like to offer a comment on Dave Corbin's post, above, that all prewar Roadmasters were produced at the Buick Flint Plant: The attached photo is of a 1941 Buick Roadmaster Model 71 sedan being assembled at the Linden, NJ, plant. The 320 engine can be identified by the unusual fan used on this engine. A photo of the 1941 Buick 320 engine fan is also attached. Grandpa

nzcarnerd, Sorry about the duplication of the same car (a different view, however) from a prior post - A senior moment. Neat photo anyway. Grandpa

Sorry to hear the sad news - Yes Al was a real car guy. The first time that I met Al was at the ACD meet in Auburn in 1969. He gave me a brisk ride in his SSJ in the evening about 10 PM on Friday night with the exhaust cut-out open. The local police stopped us in the town square and kindly asked Al to close the cut-out. That was back in the days before the meet became an over commercialized happening. Grandpa

The first two photo (door handle and vent window crank) are likely 1940s GM. Grandpa

Hi 1937hd45, I have a couple of images of the Motorette taken at the SoCal Auto Club building. I think that they could be printed as an 8"x10". Please send me an AACA Private Message with your personal e-mail address. Grandpa

Hi OLBUICKS, Yes, I am (or was?) a member of the 1937-38 Buick Club. I would like to order the 1937 Century convertible coupe in the last image. Grandpa

The hopes of finding an un-restored Model J are nil to none. There is the little known un-restored circa 1923 Duesenberg Model A roadster in California. The car has a prewar body swap with a 1920s roadster body. The car has not seen the light of day since it was parked in the family garage in the 1930s. Grandpa

The photo is of Alice Sisty at the North Platte, Nebraska, Roundup. Do any forum members have any photos, or stories to share, about Alice and the 1936 Cord? Grandpa

Copper John, The attached file is a specific heat chart for antifreeze. At 200 F and with a 50/50 mixture, antifreeze is only about 86% as good as pure water in transferring heat. Grandpa
