  1. Check out the '51 he did: Peter Portugal custom car design and fabrication
  2. That car is one of Peter Portugals creations, the only Packard part on the car is the cowl and even it has been highly modified. Like his creation or not, the guy has talent. Custom Car Design and Fabrication 1926 Packard by Peter portugal
  3. That ones done nicely. I like everything except that V8 air cleaner I see under the hood.
  4. I am having these housings reproduced at a cost of $400 a pair. They will have a modern seal and be CNC cut from 1018 CRS with new oil-lite bearings installed. Let me know if you need a pair. Todd tfee16811 at gmail.com
  5. I need a front drivers side shock for a 726/733. Looking at the front the oil fill hole is on the right side. Have you got a spare? Let me know Thanks Todd Livonia, MI
  6. Dave, thanks for the tip on the 6th series cars. That bracket was intact on my car so that wasn't it however the grease fittings were missing and the hole was filled with dirt. I'm guessing this didn't help.
  7. Thanks for checking Dave. I am starting to lean toward making new ones, the originals are scarce and apparently prone to breaking in to pieces. I suspect that it's mostly due to these parts not getting lubricated. They aren't included in the chassis lubricator circuit and probably got neglected which lead to their seizure. Both of mine were seized shut.
  8. Both the rear brake actuators on my 1930 733 are cracked/broken and I need replacements. Do any of you know where I can find these? Any help would be appreciated. If I can't find them I will be forced to machine these new and I doubt they will be very cheap. Thanks Todd These are the parts I'm talking about:

    What year frame

It looks like it's in pretty good shape with some additional coil springs. Someone out there could certainly use it, why not move it over to the Packard buy/sell forum? Another good sight for Packard lovers is Packardinfo.com If you're looking for a value I saw a couple of frames on eBay last week and the seller was asking $14,000 for one and $23,000 for another however the seller was obviously insane. He will no doubt be buried with his frames. To be fair he did have some rusty body sheet metal on his frames and they did have engines. Nevertheless I would think that if you got $250 to $500 for it you should count yourself lucky. Sure it's rare but so are people that are looking for just a frame. Good luck. Todd
  10. My favorite part is the K-Mart stick on flames. Nothing says rebel like vinyl appliqués.
  11. If previous attempts at bringing back the Packard name are any indication then I want nothing to do with a modern Packard. Every attempt at a new design that I have seen so far looks awfull. The Packard grill doesn't lend itself well to modern cars. This thread is about ugly hot rodded Packards right? Well, here's one (below) for your consideration. I'd still drive this before I'd step foot in that latest Packard recreation.
  12. What are you looking to get out of these? I already have two more of these. Todd

    What year frame

Ron, the 133" wheelbase and date would make it a model #333 which was made in four body styles (maybe more) and it would have a straight six cylinder engine. How complete is it? Can you share some pictures?
  14. In case anyone needs to have this part reproduced I've attached a print anyone can use to have their local machine shop make this part for you. Make sure you give your machinist your radiator neck so he can match the threads. 1930 Packard Radiator Seal Ring.pdf
  15. Wow, what a nice car. Wish I had a bigger garage.
  16. Max Merritt sells new shackles for your car for $175 a pair with bolts and bushings included. You can't really beat that for cheap insurance. http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb.dll?parta~partsort

    sidemount fenders

Too bad you don't have a '30, I'd swap you my sidemount fenders for a set of non sidemount fenders and throw in the brackets. As it stands I will be redoing my fenders to get rid of the sidemount holes.

    1930 Packard Project

Strange that it has an 8th series engine, did Packard mix and match like that or has it likely been swapped out at a later date?
  19. There is one on eBay right now. 2K for a spark plug? That's crazy.
  20. While trying to remove the radiator from my 733 I had to break the seal compression ring that holds the copper radiator neck within the pot metal radiator neck housing. The part was so corroded that it it literally crumbled. I am having a local (Detroit) machine shop reproduce this part in aluminum for me at a cost of $100. If you have had a similar problem and want this part reproduced for your car let me know ASAP via e-mail and I can have one made for you as well. I will give you until next Monday. Todd tfee16811 at gmail.com Don't know what part I'm talking about: see below
  21. Not a problem mlavin, thanks for checking. I can move hinges around pretty easily but I can't make an extra door so easy. I did some research on your doors yesterday and I think that they are from either a light eight (shovelnose) or a 901 standard eight. Both of these 1932 Packard bodied cars had the square corner detail shown in your doors. The larger sedans had a longer length along the hinge side due to the moved wheel arch and extended wheel base. Good luck
  22. Sp you have two sets of rear doors with the square trim? Is the other set the front doors perhaps? If I had 4 doors all the same I may be able to use them.....
  23. Those are Packard doors but they aren't from a 726 or from any of the standard Packard bodied cars either. All the Packard bodied cars had radiused corners on the trim around the windows and those doors have a mix of square and radiused trim. I'm afraid I can't use them even if they were free. I've attached a pic of a 726 door for comparison. Thanks for your time on this and good luck in your sale. Todd
