  1. I need fuel pump and carb rebuild kits for my 41 Continental. Would Marv have them?
  2. Thanks, I figured it out. I just had trouble thinking those long thin bolts hold such a heavy starter. That little support bracket that attaches to the oil pan bolt is VERY important.
  3. Where can I buy a tire tube for my 41 LC. It has 7.00x16 Firestone tires. My local tire shop says if their supplier does not stock it he will have to get it from Coker. Has anyone gotten them from any of the national parts chains?
  4. I have taken a lot of starters off in my time but where are the bolts securing it? Thanks!
  5. I need a source for the rubber bellow that covers the driveshaft center support bearing. Thanks for your help.
  6. Hello all, I need a fuel pump drive/eccentric for my 64 riv, 425. It is the round disc that is mounted to the end of the camshaft that pushes the fuel pump arm. My fuel pump came loose some years ago and when I recently tore the motor down, this part was badly worn. Also looking for a right exhaust manifold. Thanks, I have owned this baby since 1981 when I was 17. After over 100 cars it is the only one I have really enjoyed and kept. Thanks, Paul, San Diego
  7. No, I took the recommendation of the person at the musuem and filled out the form online and I am now waiting for someone to call me for my credit card payment. My intuition told me to just mail a check.
  8. How long does it take for the people at the Benson research center to get back to you with your cars info? It has been almost a month for me and no calls.
  9. On this 41 I purchased 2 weeks ago I am preparing to start it for the first time in approximately 3 years or more. The engine is loose (not seized) and I have removed the spark plugs, put some oil in the cylinders and turned the engine over a fer times by hand. It turned easily with no stickiness. Next, I want to put in a battery and crank the engine with the plugs out until I have oil pressure then install the plugs and hope it fires. My dilemma is that I have heard of of the oil lines being clogged or getting clogged soon after start-up on engines that have sat. It didn't sit for a really really long time and the oil in the filter housing looks decent with no sludge. Should I pull the lines, oil pan, etc. or just drain the oil and install a new filter. BTW, where do I get an oil filter for this '41. Thanks!
  10. Thanks for the info, no the 6H heads appear to be cast iron as they are painted green but I am not positive. When i get a bit more time this week I am going to try to get the car fired up and look at everything closer.
  11. Thanks you in advance to everyone for their help. In the 41 LC Cab I purchased last week I hope someone can decipher its Engine # and the #s on the extra motor that came with the car. Here goes: 1. Engine out of the car: (extra) Top of clutch housing: 181 Intake manifold: no #s Left Head: 6H6050 this # also has a hand punched "9" before the head # and a hand punched "R" after. Right Head: 6H6049 there is a riveted tag below this # with E7-6 Engine in Car: Top of clutch housing: 181 Intake manifold: 4-12-45-L (does this mean april 12 1945?) Left Head: 16H6050 Right Head: 16H6049 There are no extra #s or riveted plates as described with the other engine. Thank you again.
  12. The thermostats look pretty bad and I do not want to trust them. I am in the process of removing the radiator to have it boiled out and checked, it needs a left water pump, the car came with 4 extra pumps and 2 seem good, I hape one is a left one, I also talked with Skip about rebuilding one. When the radiator is out, I will be able to turn the engine over by hand to check if it is stuck. The neighbor of the previous said the car was running 3 years ago but I do not want to slap in a battery and crank it over for obvious reasons.
  13. Thanks to all, I was on the right track using a thin walled 1/2 socket on the 3 fan bolts, but it is a deep well and to long to get the bolts all the way out.
  14. where can I get new upper and lower radiator hoses? Do they come with thermostats or do you wedge one in? This cat I just bought has been sitting and the thermostats are corroded. One thermostat is cocked sideways in the hose.
  15. Thanks in advance for everyones help. Are the two large bolts on the lower side of the radiator the only ones holding it in? Does the fan have to come off first? Is the fan attached to its shaft with 4 bolts screwed in from the back of the fan? This one is wedged in pretty good. Thank you
  16. I just bought a 41 Continental this week and the passenger door is locked. From reading earlier posts on this subject it appears the door was locked with the key so the inside knob will not unlock. I have the keys but the lock just spins and does not seem to connect or turn the mechanism inside the door. What next?
  17. Can someone provide me with Dave Cole's contact info? I have been inactive in LCOC for about 3 years and can't find my directory. Thanks.
  18. What size socket is needed to crank a 41 V-12 engine by hand via the crankshaft pulley (harmonic balancer) bolt? Today I am going to view a 41 LC that has been sitting for a couple of years. I do not expect the engine to be stuck but I want to be sure. thanks,
  19. Did the 1941 Continental Cabriolet come with leather seats, vinyl/Naughahyde, cloth, or what? Also, were the door and side panels trimmed with the same material? Thanks a lot! Rollerman
  20. Thanks for the reply, I am not sure where the car is located now as it has been a while since I saw it. It needs a lot of work. It needs a full restoration, paint, plating, some bondo reworked from a rear fender bender, the interior is now vinyl and the tires all flat as it has not been run in years. Possible seized motor, but a complete solid car. The sellers are nice and the price we are talking is mid to high teens. Sound OK? I know restoration costs are very high for these beautiful cars, I'm into Rolls-Royces and there is nothing more expensive than a "cheap" collectible vehicle. Rollerman
  21. I am new to the forum and need help decoding a car. The # I got from the registration is: H113921. It is believed to be a 41 Continental Cabriolet. It reads Lincoln Continental on the hubcaps. I do not see the words Zephyr anywhere. It is a V-12. Any help is appreciated in confirming what it is. Thank you.
