  1. I am looking for information on the production information and rarity of the 1928 Buick Roadster. Was there anything special about the year and body style? Any info will be appreciated,
  2. All STUTZ Club Members, The STuTZ News will be mailed out this week and the registration form for the Grand STuTZ will be this issue. Please attend this STuTZ Club event with or without displaying a car. Please feel free to contact me is you have any questions or need further information. 3. I have always thought that it was better to be lucky than smart! Any more almost any team can win. These boy start so young with good coaching that there is a lot of talent and the big schools cannot afford to give them all scholarships. I would have thought Duke and Ohio State in the final!!!!
  4. Commodore, Thanks again. I had not thought about welding in the plates on the post. I am replacing the headliner and windlace and can weld them in shown in the 55 Chevy demo when I have the headliner out. My 50 post looks similar to the 55 post. I bought lap belts from Julianos but did not install them in favor of a 3 point belt. I will contact Julianos. It would be nice to hear from someone that has installed them on a 50 Chevy 2 door sedan. Did you get my message that I received a copy of the book from the Abe Lincoln Library for the Sangamo Amp/Hour meter?
  5. Has anyone installed front 3 point retractable seat belts in a 1950 Chevy 2 Door Sedan? It appears to me that the post may not be wide enough. Thanks in advance. Dan

  7. Hello Commodore, Your lead paid off. I sent the Library $10 and thay copied the book for me. It arrived today and was exactly what I need. Thank you again.
  8. Hello Commodore What a great piece of detective work!!! Thank you. I will contact the library.
  9. Hi Rusty, This is not your usual ammeter with the DC current running through it in series. it operates off of a 100 amp 60MV shunt that is in series with the battery circuit to the electric motor. The instrument is a combination ammeter and amp/hour meter. The amp/hour meter uses and induction dick and gear train to move the pointe based on the discharging anf charging of the two 42 volt battery banks. I am looking for information on the instrument so I can attempt to repair and calibrate. Thanks for the reply.
  10. I have this posted on the electric car forum but thought I would also post it here also since I have had no response from the electric guys. I need help in finding information on this Ammeter / amphour meter from the Detroit Electric Car I am working on. The meter is not working. Sangamo Electric Company, Springfield, Ill Type MS Ampere Hour Meter Number 4081 60 Amps 90 Ampere second for one revolution of disk Thank you all in advance.

  12. Hi Layden, This is Dan the Treasurer of the STuTZ Club. I want to thank you for helping all of these guys with the questions. Your help and the help our other members provide is invaluable. There have been a number of STuTZ cars changed hand recently and a few have come up for sale that we have not seen before. Some of the new owners are not familiar with the STuTZ and it is important they get the correct information. I encourage anyone working on a STuTZ or just interested in the Marque to consider joining the club. They shoulld also consider attending our 2014 Grand STuTZ in Stillwater, MN at the end of July. Thanks again on behalf the club.
  13. Hi 30DodgePanel, Thank you for the replies. I was asking for one of our STuTZ Club members in Switzerland. He does vintage racing in a STuTZ powered race car and was looking for vintage coverall that he could have the STuTZ logo applied. I can see that he may find them on Ebay. Dan

  16. Update: I worked on the car last week. I had said the car was a Baker but it is actually a 1917 Detroit Electric. The motor is an Emerson motor. There are two major problems. 1. The current shunt is burnt and needs to be replaced. 2. One of the drum contacts and the associated spring loaded contact is burnt pretty bad and need replaced. Any thoughts if there would be an controller parts around or will we need to make new ones? I suspect that the primary wires will need replaced. The car is in very good original complete condition and I am confident we will get it on the road.
  17. I am looking for information and possible source for 1930 vintage coveralls of the type that woul dhave been worn by racing team crew members or driver. White would be preferred. Thank you in advance for your assistance.
  18. This thread is for stutzl6. Attached are photos of the 1929 Blackhawk RS Couple that is missing the timing and throttle gears and linkage. Take look and give me a call. 614 832-0066 when you get a chance. Thanks, Dan
  19. Hello, I will start by saying I have not seen or worked on a watt-hour meter from a WW1 era antique electric vehicle. I am a retired electrical engineer with experience with the operation, maintenance and repair of DC electric motors, controls, and metering. i am also a life long car guy. I am responding to this thread because I will soon be helping a friend get a Baker back on the road. I plan to examine and understand the operation of each component as part of the project. I will be more than happy to share what I learn during this adventure. I may have some light to share on the watt-hour meter after a few hours with the Baker. A few thoughts on the watt-hour off the top of my head: I would think that a DC watt-hour meter would be constructed like a DC motor with the motor speed calibrated to watt-hours. I would suspect that the armature voltage would be in Milli-volts and produced across a DC Shunt. This would allow the watt-hour meter drive motor speed to be linear to the current being used to run the car. I can envision a small shunt wound dc motor, a current shunt, some resistors for motor field current adjustment, and some sort of clock works gear train for the indicating dial. I am excited to begin work on the Baker next week. I will try to be of assistance to the antique EV community and post updates and photos as we move along.
  20. I will be helping a friend get a Baker Electric car running. This car has been operational in the resent past. He has a manual and the original charger. I would like to see if anyone would have any words of wisdom and warning. As with all things old, there are little bits of knowledge and Baker experience, that I do not currently have (get it currently!!!!), that make a project like this safe, successful and fun. I am an electrical engineer car guy with DC motor, control, and battery experience. Thank you all in advance. I am looking forward to your replies. (I posted this in the AACA technical forum before I found this one. Sorry for the redundant posting)

  22. To all current STuTZ Club Members, The 2014 membership directory has been mailed out. Please carefully review your information and contact me at thestutzclub@aol.com with your corrections. I am sure their are some corrections to be made so please check and let me know. You will notice a section at the end of the directory entitled Orphaned Cars. The cars listed in this section no longer have an active member associated with them or have been sold at auction and their new owner has not joined the club. The goal is to have the directory as accurate as possible and llist as many surviving STuTZ, HCS, fire trucks, and Pak-Age-Cars as possible. We need the help of all of the members and non-members that may know of a STuTZ car in any condition any where in the world. The STuTZ News will soon be mailed out. Please take a look at the 2014 Grand STuTZ Stillwater, MN announcement. Mark your calendar and plan to attend. We hope to display a nice diverse field of STuTZ cars so get your car ready. Every member is welcomed and encouaged to attend a Grand STuTZ. Displaying a car is not necessary to attend and enjoy the event. A Grand STuTZ is a social event as well as a car event for members to get together enjoy the cars, the event, make new friends, catch up with old friends, and get some good technical info from the guys that know. Dan DiThomas Treasurer
  23. We plan to attend the 2014 spring meet in Auburn, IN and wondering when the registration information will be available. We have not been to this event before and want to make sure we do not miss out. Thank you in advance. Dan
  24. Can anyone tell me if there are any nice car museums or car collections around the Greenwich, CT area. After Hershey this October, my wife and I will be going to the Greenwich, CT area. We will be meeting up with two gentlemen from Italy that are interested in American antique and muscle cars. They have asked if there are any museums or collects we could visit while there. We are from Ohio and not familiar with the Greenwich area. We are members of the AACA, CCCA, New England MG TD Register, and the The STuTZ Club. Any thought and suggestions would be appreciated.
