I just got a truckload of reproduction and original 1930-31 Ford Model A parts and was wondering if there would be any interest in them at Hershey.   Reproduction rear fenders, running board to body splash shields, seat pans, trunk lid, etc.  Original seat frames, springs, cowl section with windshield frame, bumpers, brackets, complete hood, top of hood, radiator surround, glass, etc.  Is there still need for these parts for restoration, or are most of them finished already?

    Anyone need this stuff?

  2. Matt,

    We all feel for you!  We know the pain you are going through with the beast from hell.  Just know that we are all feeling your pain too.  

    Take a break from it, you will know when the time is right to go back to it, you are so close.  Sometimes the best solution is to let it alone for awhile and then come back to it refreshed and ready to tackle the next problem.

    But just remember that a car should not make you miserable, if it does, get rid of it.  Life is too short to let it get to you.

    I have looked at the picture of the cam timing and I am not sure if it is in time.  I was counting teeth trying to figure out were the marks would be at top dead center and to me it looks like it might be off one(or more) teeth.  I am guessing that the two marks should be closest to each other and in line with the center line.TimingMarks.jpg.e632ccc85b27b2d2fc371c965298c6e1.jpg

  4. I replaced my old and outdated lights(old outdoor gas station island 8' HO light) in my shop with 2 LED high bay lights, 21,000 lumens each.  Plenty bright enough and takes up a lot less area.  They are even dimmable.  I will be removing some of the LED 4 footers when I get time.

If you do the buyback and fix it yourself and with body shop or friends help make sure you keep track of your hours worked.  As I said with my car, the insurance company wanted to know how much I spent on repairs before I could insure it with them.  When I showed them the parts receipts, they said that didn't add up to the payout, I told them I did the work myself and they told me to add that to the total cost of repairs.

I was involved in an accident with my 1990 Thunderbird several years ago, other person's fault.  I have JC Taylor insurance agreed value of $3000, the damage was around $4500.  Front fender, hood, headlight, parking light, and headlight support panel.  JCTaylor sent out an adjuster From Farmers Ins.  I was able to buy the car back for around $750 dollars, so I received $2250 from JCTaylor, they wanted a photo copy of the title, no reconstructed title as they said car is an antique.  Repaired car myself by buying a complete parts car, and JC Taylor is still insuring it.

    I think it was off insurance for one year and then I got a letter asking if I still owned the car, which caught me off guard, and if I did I need to send pictures and receipts of repairs including my labor.  They never even notified the state as I never got notification from PENNDOT to return my antique plate.

    See what the buyback number is and information on the title and go from there.  I think your buyback number will be really low, $2-3k.  Good luck.

    I spent the day trying to get it to run long enough to do some real tuning and troubleshooting yet it resolutely refused to cooperate. 

     

    Task one was to replace the upper radiator hose that ruptured yesterday, so I pulled it off and examined the Grimy filter--a little gunk in each one, but not much. That's good, I suppose.

    Grimy filters are doing their job.

     

     

     

     

     

     

    If the pump was not working how did the grimy filters get so much crap in them?  Maybe there is blockage somewhere???  A back flow after the pump is removed may flush some of the crap out.
