  1. Have a 2003 Buick Rendezvous. April will be 5 years old. Has 85,000 miles on it and the "tire pressure low" light has only come on 5 times and each time I did have a low tire. The last time it came on I was doing 70 miles an hour on US540 here in Ft. Smith, AR, I moved over to the right lane, begin slowing down and got off the next exit when the tire went completely flat. I learned that day that this electronic warning was truly one for our SAFETY. I agree that we can always check our tires before driving off, but that is kind of hard to do at 70 miles an hour. Another plus for going to your dealer for tires. I am on my second set and purchased them at the dealer which I am sure saved me getting mis-information from the computer. They know how to properly hook up the sensors when you buy tires from them. Just my two cents worth Dick Taylor
  2. It wasn't a car. It was one heavy, large GMC truck designed to haul thousands of gallons of water to a fire where there were no hydrants. This tanker not only had air brakes, it also had hydraulics. Wish I could remember it's gross weight. When you drove it, it felt like you were in a railroad locomotive looking for some track. This was back in the 60's so my memory of the trucks statistics is rather clouded as is what I just ate for breakfast. Ha! Under the "oldest" class, my first car was a 1936 Black Chevy which I called the Black Mar-iia. Bought it for $200 in 1949. Oh, it wasn't too odd but I drove a 40's Dodge Ice cream truck up and down streets of Syracuse, NY. Wow, thats almost 60 years ago. The company was called Skippy Ice Cream. Remembered I could make 85 bucks a week in the summers. Back then that was a lot of money. Boy, I must be getting old as dirt.
  3. Roberta: Lets hope and pray that all that media "stuff" turns out to be real!! I did not realize you had been in Flint for 28.5 years. I didn't think you were that old. Must be my age is messing up my judgement. Miss you guys, however, I get on here at least twice a day and have been since, I guess, 1999. Dick
  4. GREAT LOOK!!! Classy and inviting, Thanks Bill
  5. Hi Roberta: Have to tell you what we did in Michigan for the last 5 days. Flew into Grand Rapids for a family reunion of my wife's late husband, it was great. You are right about the rain. It was beautiful Wed. thru Thurs. then it rained like heck all day Friday. Fortunately the reunion was Thursday. Stayed in a bed and breakfast on Lake Campauqa (spelling) out 86th street way. Place were we stayed, the man was just retired from Keller Brass and called on auto manufacturers for years. In an extra big garage he had, 65 Mustang (lst year) 20,000 original miles, a 31 Modal A Ford, which the decased owener put 28M dollars in to restore and a 67 Pontiac Firebird convertible in beautiful shape. Needless to say I had a ball with him and his cares. Gave us rides in the rumble seat. I will tell you, Roberta, Michigan is one beautiful state. The farms, the countryside are beautiful. However I am not tallking about downtown Flint. Ha. Hope you are well and have a great time up in Washington state. Dick
  6. Great Job Peter. They will get use to the format. Do you remember back seven years ago when the Bugle went with glossy stock? Oh boy! Some were having to wear their sunglasses to read it and the type and photos were just to vivid. This too, will come to pass. Again, you, Roberta and others involved offer the BCA a great tool for communicating!! Dick Taylor
  7. Hi Pete: Gary B. is right on track. I was a volunteer EMT & Firemen in the late 60's and 70's outside Syracuse, NY. We went to a few State conventions and I do remember the firemen from the Long Island area had the winners in the hose races most often. I remember in particular, West Islip, they had a classy team. It took a lot of money to support the men, the equipment and travel. If I remember they used to trailer the cars. Last one we attended was in Buffalo in mid 70's. Hope this lends some help. By the way Pete, went through Sherman last August to a funeral in Houston. On the way back hit Dallas at 5PM and spent the next 1 1/2 hours getting to a sign that said "Sherman 20 mioles." Learned never to go through Dallas at 5PM again.

We are just a little East of Australia and am looking forward to receiving my National Meet Issue here in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
  9. Thanks for posting photos of the parade. My kids were raised in a village of 1600 and a town of 6000 and it was a joy to live there and take part in parades and community activites. Wholesome and pictureresque enough to qualify for Norman Rockwell art. These photos brought back such wonderful memories of 30 - 40 years ago when life was a lot simpler. One more post that promotes the decency of Buick folks.
  10. To all my Buick friends Have been retired from the printing industry after 40 some years since March 31st of last year. Really miss all you guys, even the complainers. I go to this website at least once a day and always enjoy the comments and above all the information. I would like to compliment Pete on the great job he is doing on the magazine. As you all know I am not really a gear head but love the cars and the stories of over 100 years. The technical items are interesting too. Pete, I am so glad you stayed with "glossy paper" as the quality of photos is great. Have been reading about the Rochester meet and looks like a great one. Maybe someday I will get to another one. I never missed one as a vendor. I think that is very important to enable best service possible. It also appears that you are receiving excellent service from your new printer. In closing I wish the Board of Directos, The Chapters and most of all the MEMBERS continued success, good health and "smooth roads" until we meet again. Didn't use spell check. (no complaining, HA) Dick Taylor
