  1. What an amazing photo of the Crazy Horse monument. Do you have any others of it.

A quick story about it. When they interviewed the man that designed it and started the project he told them that every morning when he set the charges of dynamite, before he set them off, he would ask, "Crazy Horse, are you in there? And when I pushed the plunger to set off the dynamite, Crazy Horse would say 'Unh!!'" (That comes from a movie titled "They Said It Couldn't Be Done" which told the stories of many things that were done by people with vision.)

  2. Thanks SixtySix. Peter says that it is okay as long as we do not "hi-jack" each others threads and change the subject in them. He says that we need to start another thread referencing the one we are commenting "off subject" to.

As far as, what goes around comes around, grin.gif!

  3. Here is some information from the " 3rd Edition Standard Catalogue of American Cars 1946-1975". If it is a 1965 it is a " AMC Rambler Marlin-(Six)-Series 50-The Rambler Marlin was introduced in February, 1965 as a midyear addition to the line. It was basically a Rambler Classic with special fastback roof styling. Different taillights were used, but the grille was of the Classic type with the vertical division bars removed. A special Marlin hood ornament was seen. The Marlin was American Motors Corp.'s answer to the Ford Mustang, but could accommodate six passengers, as opposed to only four in the Mustang.

Series Number: 50, Body/Style Number: 6559-7, Body Type and Seating: 2-dr HT FsBk-6P, Factory Price: 3100, Shipping Weight: 3234, Production Total: 10,327"

If it is a 1966 there were some changes made. (The photo in the book shows one with a V8 engine.) "The 1966 Marlin received a few changes. A new grille was used and many features, formerly standard, were now optional. This included power steering and brakes. (I hope they meant power brakes and not that you hd to pay extra to have any brakes at all. grin.gif) The price dropped by nearly $500. And the Rambler nameplate was deleted from the rear of the car. Series Number: 50, Body/Style Number: 6659-7, Body Type & Seating: 2-dr FsBk-6P, Factory Price: 2601, Shipping Weight: 3050, Production Total: 4,547"

So there in a nut shell, is everything you ever (or never) wanted to know about the AMC Marlins. grin.gif

  4. Bill and I sat down and after looking over the donations we traditionally make this time of year, we cut some out and lowered some and came up with $40 that we are sending tomorrow to the library roof fund.

I contacted Bookreader and she said that they are grateful for any amount at all that anyone can send. That our $40 is welcome. smile.gif

So if you have any to spare, no matter how small, please consider a dontation to them. If you have none to spare, then I hope next year will be a better year for you and yours.

Bill's daughter has has a rough three years since 9-11. Because of the attacks she lost her job. Then she lost her car and then had to move out of her apt. Her ex tried to take her son away while she was in this state. She now has a full time job and a part time job. She finally moved into a duplex and is driving a Ford Ranger that operates on a prayer every day to keep running. And the judge told her ex that he can not have our 16 year-old grandson. That he gets to stay with the mom that is raising him and loves him.

So one week ago this Monday we cashed in some retirement CD's to buy her a slightly used 2004 Jeep "Liberty" so that she can get to the jobs and get her life back in order. And we are going to fix up the Ranger for our grandson for when he gets his license. In time we will give her brother a like amount to help him out. All of this will be about $36,000 betwen the two kids when we are done.

Charity this year had to start at home. grin.gif

  5. Okay Gunny, I am still confused. Why would you worry that the guy would not accept an offer that is more than twice what he was offering??

That is like going into the questionable part of town, being quoted $50 and worrying that your offer of $150 will be turned down. HUH!?!?!? (Aren't you proud of how clean I kept that and still got the point across?)

    (Psst!! I'm not "son". I'm.........a girl.) shocked.gif
