  1. My friend owns a `1952?? or 53 ?? GMC ton truck that my grandfather  bought brand new  at  Samuel F West Beer Dist. Lakeville NY. He removed the cab from the chassis , made a jig , so it could be worked on upside down. He has started rebuilding the rockers and life got busy for him and it needs to be sold. The chassis  is together and runs great. The fenders and doors are in good condition . The glass is all good.  He wants $2500 , its located in South Lima  NY  a bit south of Rochester NY , The cab on this truck is the same as a pickup truck cab.  I dont have pictures  but could get them if any one  is interested. Call the owner "Skip" at  585  749 8392. Cab can be set back on chassis  if buyer  wants it to be.

If it has compression, fuel and spark, and it doesn’t run…….it’s can’t be ANYTHING else but timing. That it doesn’t even pop off is a fairly good clue it’s a mile off. Pull the plugs, get number one on TDC and look at the timer.

Or just hire someone  with a screw driver, pump plyers and a piece of welding rod to stop over and start it.

That's fantastic information, TG! If I'm not mistaken, Elcar had a model with a name similar to TravelAir.

My Grandfather Brown had a 1926 Elcar cabriolet, straight eight, from about 1927 to 1990. I am on my way back home from a funeral in Kansas and retraced much of the route he took the whole family on about 1929: Hutchinson, Kansas -> Wolf Creek Pass, CO -> Mesa Verde Nat'l Park, CO -> Hutchinson.  It's about 640 miles one way to Mesa Verde.

Where is your family car today??  Why after all those years was it sold?? Can it be bought back?? Please post a picture of it. Mike
